Humid hides question

Omnivorous Nov 24, 2008 07:52 PM

I have heard conflicting information and was hopeing someone can help clear things up. I was told when haveing multiple females in a enclosure (about 4) I need to have a seperate hot, cold and humid hide for each leo. Others have told me I need a seperate hot and cold hide for each leo but the humid hide I can have one large or 2 larger hides instead of one for each leo.

No, you do not need seperate hides for each leo. Just a hide big enough for all of them to fit in at one time.
Ive always had 1 hide big enough for all of the leos in the cage, and 1 or 2 deli cup humid hides.

Hope this helps

So your saying have one or two larger humid hides and seperate individual hot and cold hides for the leos?

or

Just one big old hot and one big old cold hide and a couple mid sized humid hides?

It's really best to have at least a few hides at each temperature zone so that they're not forced to be together if they want to be at the same temperature/humidity. They really aren't social animals, and being together all the time can lead to dominance/stress issues. The best way to avoid that is to house them completely separately, but if you're dead set on housing them together, then several hides per temperature/humidity zone is really best.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. The bigger the tank the better and the more hides the better.

I agree....its best to have more hides, i always recomend a m inimum of three hides per Leo
