Baby honduran freaking out....any advise??

royc21 Sep 08, 2003 01:56 PM

I bought a beautiful hypo honduran at the pomona show and he is a new born about a month old. The problem is that he is so freaked out by humans, everytime I try to get him he goes nuts and flys around the cage at a million miles an hour and when I finally get him he poops and pee`s on my hands and it is very hard to hold him and it`s getting a little old now. I want him as a pet not a breeder even though he would make a killer breeder, but I want him tame like my pyro.
I have had snakes before so I know I`m handling him right I just want to know if he will tame down or is he one of those that will stay that way. Should I continue to try to hold him or leave him alone? I don`t want an agressive snake as a pet.
thanks guys

Baby milksnakes are like that. Especially Hondos. He will calm down if you just keep handling him. They are all spastic when they are babies.

Milksnakes are very flighty as babies, and Hondurans can be one of the most flighty. He will calm down with age although may still be a bit nervous but not aggressive. Some calm down alot. Pyros are extremely calm kingsnakes. I highly doubt you will ever find a milksnake to be like a pyro.
