Jeff breeds lots of females every season and has not as many litters as females he bred!!!

Exactly, and while the forum is a great place to share, that's probably getting a little to far into his business to share with the world.

One thing I have gathered over time is breeding boas is like producing chickens - don't count em before they hatch.

Well,I've heard all kinds of things,from different reliable people through the years,but I dont believe anything I hear anymore from anyone,just because story's get twisted from down the line..But I was looking for some honest answers from someone who isnt scared or offended to share alittle information that would look something like this..{example}I have 400 adult breeder females,100 have this year off,I've bred 300,100 didnt ovulate,50 threw slugs and stillborns,10 died giving birth,40 disapeared in the black hole mothers and all and 100 gave birth to healthy litters..but who's talking

I have no where near that many females but every season i have had 100% success rates.

06' 4 Females attempted 4 healthy litters
07' 5 Females attempted 5 healthy litters
08' 7 Females attempted 7 heatlhy litters

I suppose when you have tons more you will miss on a few.

Wait a minute... I did have some perfect breeding seaosns:

I did have one season that was better than perfect. My first year having babies I had two litters in 1986 but only bred one female!

1986- 1 Female attempted (Big Momma) 2 healthy litters (Same female gave birth on Feb. 17, 1986 and December 9, 1986. Two litters, one female and one calendar year (Two breedings by the way).

1987- 1 Female attempted 1 healthy litter

1988- 2 Females attempted 1 healthy litter

1989- 7 or 8 Females attempted 4 healthy litters including the foundational animals from "Lucy" that started the EBV Red Group.

1990- 19 Females attempted 18 healthy litters. I considered that my very best season (No internet. No decent books. Nobody to call who figured it out, but my Boas loved me).

2008- I don't know how many females I attempted. I do know how many ovulated though. I also know how many had babies and exactly how many babies I had too. I did break Bigg Mike's old record, but then he passed me up leaving me in the dust...

You see... it's been down hill ever since...

people don't mind sharing, but when they make their living breeding it becomes more of a private matter.

I understand why people ask but, to answer would disappoint many people. Some because of how low the number is and others because how unattainable the number would seem. So it's best to just show off every chance I get without giving specific numbers. Suffice it to say this...

It's hard to count all this stuff!
