Where can I buy vermiculite at? Is it available about anywhere? What exactly is other than an icubation substrate?

you can find vermiculite at any garden supply store or even feed/seed style stores. I expect a place like Walmart may have it too but probably only little bags. I bought a huge bag (like three feet tall size bag) for about $14 CDN couple years ago. I expect it will last me for a long time..but their small bags were $5 I think and one small bag may have lasted me two or three clutches...

Vermiculite is basically a soil lightener...mixed with regular potting soil to better retain moisture and take out some of the weight plain soil would add for potted plants.

If you can't find it locally, you can order it from
Uline on line. comes in a huge bag and does great for incubating eggs; balls and colubrids.

Home Depot was where I got my last bag. It will be in the outdoor/garden department. I think some stores carry it and some don't, so you might have to check a few.
