i read an interesting fact the other day... the average american will consume 3,000 calories on thanksgiving.... yieks lol!! thats prolly close to 75% to double what a typical daily intake should be. if you have a piece of pumpkin pie and pecan pie thats about 1,000 calories in itself.... so eat up everyone cause tomorrow we can all run marathons to burn it all off lol whos with me

lol its funny as i type this thanks giving is my favorite holiday for sure and i will be right there with a pile of mashed potatoes and bread stuffing with 3 or 4 dinner rolls, and yes, it will ALL be swimming in gravy lol

Thanksgiving is the holiday that bases it's tradition in the native americans giving the starving colonial settlers a feast as a sign of peace. We all sit around and eat turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and whatever else the family decides is important. Then we all fall asleep in front of a football game until someone wakes us up for pecan or pumpkin pie. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you on the fat american's joke, but I have to say, it is one holiday where the stress level is low because it's all about eating with friends and family. So it rocks! Oh yea, and you're supposed to go around the table and say what you're all thankful for (my friends, family and SNAKES!)

3000 calories? Meh, that's nothing special - as a teenager, I probably ate 3500/day just to keep from LOSING weight. (I'd literally have 2-3 large bowls of cereal in the morning, whatever school had for lunch (2nds and more if available), then 2-3 large bowls of cereal when I got home, whatever mom made for dinner, and then a big snack sometime later in the night.) Even at 30 years old now, I still have a fairly speedy metabolism. Of course, during the non-frozen months, I bike a lot, sometimes to the tune of 1000 or more calories in one ride, so that may have something to do with it. If it takes 2000 calories to sustain normal function and you do 1000 calories of physical work additional to that, then 3000 may actually be a little bit less than what you need. Of course, the average American does not do that, but the point is that 3000 calories is not necessarily that big of a deal.

Apart from that, happy Thanksgiving all! Here's hoping the turkey and stuffing were both delicious and plentiful.
