Hypomelanistic (Ghost) Question

ExecutiveReptiles Nov 27, 2008 02:44 PM

We recently aquired a Ghost and two 100% het ghosts, but the person we got them from couldn't recall what line they where, With the incompatibility of some ghost lines, what would you do in this situation? I am not sure what to call them, can you distiguish different lines of Ghosts by color? I would hate to call them one "type" or "line" and have it not be compatible, cause some are and some aren't right?

How would you handle this situation, if you aquired a Hypo/Ghost but didn't know what line or lineage the Hypo/Ghost was from? If you produced offspring with it, what would you call them?

Here are a couple of crappy pics...

Almost all tradiitonal hypos are absolutely compatible. BHB, Bell, NERD, etc are all the same thing. It is only when people start talking about non tradiitonal hypos that there are compatibility issues because they are not the same thing. You have average looking standard hypo there. It will be compatible with 90% of animals labeled as hypos.

Good to know, thanks....I am not too familar with all the in's and out's of Hypos, I didn't know if knowing the "Type" or "Line" was super important.

So if I where to produce offspring with him, just labeling them as Hypo/Ghost is good enough?

I never used to. I used to always say hypo, but now when I do I get dozens of emails asking me what the difference is between the two so I caved in and put both.

.....you could say it was a Bell line yellow.....

but...

it might be a yellow, or someones' green, or butterscotch......they're all the same

call them ghosts....noone asks what line mine are, and they are green ,yellow, and butterscotch crossed....yep,,all three into one ...

....yours ....like I said...best bet is Bell Yellow....

Your chances of having incompatible ones are extremely slim
