I am thinking about travelling to search for and catch some herps. Where would I go because it seems like all land is privately owned? Specifically I would like to catch a couple of Blue Racers and photograph anything else I find.
Thanks,
Dan

Finding public herping land is easy in the west, harder in the east.
If there area any national forests in your area, herping is allowed in areas not marked as Wilderness areas.
Around the edges of towns on quiet, uninhabited dead end roads, you often find that people dump trash. Those sites can be good as well, but realize you are usually trespassing when you visit these sites.
