For a really long time, I have been using a cage I built for a snake and never used to incubate leo eggs, snake eggs, and turtle eggs.
I tried using an actual incubator once, along with vermiculite for the hatching medium, with disasterous results.
ever since I have been using this setup with moistened peat moss as the hatching medium, I have a very good hatch rate.
The only heat source I use is a hockey puck light. This picture was taken the day before my leo laid her eggs. Of course I now have a digital thermometer with the probe inside of the plastic container to moniter the temps.
It keeps a pretty constant 87 degrees. My baby leos should be here sometime within the first two weeks of January.
I was wondering if anyone else used anything besides an actual incubator or hovabator to hatch eggs.
