Here are a couple pics of some of my collection, and some locks I have witnessed in the last couple of days. All locks are of my male bell pastel with normal females. Three different females.

You got a better pic of your female "Pastel?" From the pics, it is hard to tell what it is...

hard to tell in the pics but she is a pastel

serpentineexotic Nov 30, 2008 07:25 PM

I hope that picture labeled female pastel is mislabeled. That is definitely not a pastel.

mugencrx Nov 30, 2008 07:54 PM

mugencrx Nov 30, 2008 07:56 PM

Alfonso Nov 30, 2008 08:02 PM

I'm in agreement, she does not look like a pastel. Did you purchase her as a pastel?

mugencrx Nov 30, 2008 08:08 PM

she was my first snake, and I didnt no better. Lol some jerk told me she was a pastel but I only paid 80 for her so I guess I cant complain

toshamc Dec 01, 2008 10:46 AM

Better be sure to check the sex on that one -- if he was willing to lie about her genetics theres a good chance he'd lie about her sex as well.

She is a good looking snake -- we've got one very similar -- she makes wonderful looking yellowbellies.

Good luck.

yeh I checked that multiple times defintely female, she is beautiful cant wait to see her offspring

JenH Nov 30, 2008 08:18 PM

Honestly she looks like a real light, clean nice normal. What does her belly look like?? Does she have green/yellow eyes?

Normals can be real light. Here is a pic of one of my girls...

Here is a bad pic of a pastel and some pastel babies (showing off my wonderful photography skills ). This picture was taken in bright sun-light and they show up a lot browner then real life. But you can still tell he is a pastel. Notice the eyes...

Hope this helps....

serpentineexotic Nov 30, 2008 08:11 PM

There is a lot of variation in normals. She looks to me like a very nice normal. She is a beautiful animal though. I love ball pythons with a lot of blushing.

You got sold a nice, light normal. Not a pastel.

fatjay Nov 30, 2008 09:55 PM

A young pastel and not the greatest picture.

I think I got it now I have a male pastel proven breeder, and I new they looked different but I just thought that maybe it was because my male is a bell pastel

ginebig Dec 01, 2008 07:42 AM

She's a very clean, reduced pattern normal. And I'll bet she throws some gorgeous babies. Pastel or not she's a keeper.

Don't touch your ball pythons when they're locked up.

Also, that gap in the top bin (and possibley others) looks like you could drive a truck through it. I would do something about that pronto.

thanks but the drawer was out a bit, there is no gap.

ballfreak Dec 01, 2008 10:17 AM

cool! did you cool your snakes before seeing any lock ups?

mugencrx Dec 01, 2008 10:36 AM

no i realy didnt have to with the temps like they are Im in northen pennsylvania, I have had about 15-20 good locks so far this season

ballfreak Dec 01, 2008 03:32 PM

please help me understand this? if you live in a cold area like i do but you still keep your bp's at the reccomended temps than how do they know the difference? thanks so much!

mugencrx Dec 01, 2008 05:53 PM

well just because my rack temp is correct doesnt mean the temperature throught my home doesnt fluctuate. Im sure they feel the difference. Hope this helps you to understand, that whatever I am doing works great!

melindaste Dec 01, 2008 06:25 PM

That even though you have locks and have witnessed them, they still may not take, Cooling is debatable, I also live not far from you and I cool. You may wan to do some research before you keep putting them together,

mugencrx Dec 01, 2008 07:26 PM

yes I have heard this before, but some experienced breeders have told me I am on a good start. And to keep on doing what I am doing. thanks

grunt_11b Dec 01, 2008 10:05 PM

So are you saying they won't take because he hasn't cooled the snakes?? I know of breeders that don't cool and have great results..

Alan

ballfreak Dec 01, 2008 07:18 PM

im not thinking your doing something wrong i have heard this before where temps change in the room and it helps breeding efforts. just wanted to hear your thoughts as well. thanks and lots of luck!
