A local pet store feeds their snakes in tank and uses small reptibark substrate. Twice I have seen substrate stuck to the prey while eating. The first is an amel corn hatchling 16" and the other is a striped king about 2'. If this was to cause an impaction problem how long would it take to show up? I bought the amel because his colors were very nice. He is on f/t fuzzies and doesn't seem to have any problems besides an attitude.

If he's eating well and eliminating with no problems I wouldn't worry about it.

The occasional piece of substrate.. as long as it isn't overly large, passing through a snake or lizards digestive system isn't usually harmful.. Its when you get either.. A. an accumulation of it.. or B. larger pieces that block the intenstinal tract that the problems emerge.
