spiny mice for food?

bigdogreps Nov 30, 2008 08:02 PM

Got some free spiny mice at the local pet tore due to an overpopulation. Any one ever feed spiny mice to their snakes? My only concern is their stiff guard hairs, dont want to make the snake uncomfortable or harm it.

They won't work-those spiny hairs are a specific adaptation to avoid snake predation. Most snakes I've tried them on drop them like a hot potato!

I've fed them to balls, ratsneakes before....they ate them.....
I bred alot of spiny at one time....balls liked them.....IF I had too many and actually froze them...the stiff hairs can be pulled out after thawing them out....IF you really want to pull them.....

......feed them, breed them, give them to someone who will breed them.....it's all good.....
