Shipping, FedEx or UPS?

Tamarasfish Nov 30, 2008 11:01 PM

Hi to Everyone,

Tamara here, Rainbow Bearded Dragons. I'm sure there are many of you with the same decision I'm facing because of the Shut down of domestic delivery by DHL. I set up an account with UPS just to find out that out of 5 shipments only one was there by 10:30 am delivery and they charged me 7.00-10.00 more than FedEx would have charged me.... I was wondering what you guys have been dealing with, with your NEW Shipper? I know nothing about Fedex and wondering if they delivery on time, next day service by 10:30am?? I used the post office once and they said it would be delivered by 10:30 am the next day. Well the tracking was useless and it didn't get delivered next day but second day!
In the mean time they couldn't even find my package and it showed up in the tracking 2 days later when it got delivered. I had enough of that! They said they use fedex planes and it may have been bumped off...
Just wondering what your results are with your new shipper, former DHL users...

Thanks, Tamara

While I have never shipped a reptile, every animal i've ever had shipped to me has come from fedex. I've always been pleased receiving animals from them, they are usually pretty accurate on the 1030 am part, at the latest its been maybe 1130. Anyways not sure if I helped you any but thats my 2 cents.

I have shipped once with FedEX, no problems. Then again, I have also shipped twice with USPS and have not any problems there, either.

Tamara,

I try to ship mainly FedEx. Their rates are even better if you setup an account. Not much better but, every little bit helps. When I ship to a town that isn't near a big city or the cost is more expensive than I would have expected I check UPS.

As for their timing. In the couple of years that I have been using them, I have only had one that didn't get there by the 10:30 mark.

Fedex is very reliable in my experience. Hated ups. Fedex will refund money if not there by 10:30.
