With the Hyper Peruvians ?

They have been around so long.

There is so much Hype like they are a New or something.

I've seen UNREAL examples in the past.

Much better than I see now.

They used to call them Black Peruvians.

I wish I kept the pics.

The ones they used to post where Lemon Yellow or Light Grey with

a SMOKIE GREY HAZE Just barely covering the pattern with Bright

Red tails !!!

The ones I see now are just Black, can't even see the pattern.

The black Peruvians have been around forever. The Hyperpigmented ones Gus produced the first litter a couple of years ago. I picked up a female from his 08 litter and just got the other female from Chris Gilbert. Here are Chris's photos of the Hyper pigmented girl he got from Gus at Daytona.

The hyperpigmented one I got from Gus is not black and ususally has an overall cooper color. The black JR female I posted yesterday doesn't change her color other than getting blacker with each shed. I think recently black Peruvians have been getting more attention, but you are right they have been around forever. The "true" hyperpigmented ones are something Gus came across. Take that to mean it was not somethig he was breeding for.

Gus - chime in and clarify if you can. I'm sure I've left something out.

Take care,

Kevin

AshLopez Dec 02, 2008 01:08 PM

Thanks Kev,

I thought they where the same thing.

The ones Gus produced are Outstanding !!!!

I Love that they are Copper Color with the Black eyes.

I see the diference and can appreciate their beauty.

I posted this post because I was not up on the project.

Thanks for posting.

When I get the girl from Chris delivered I'm going to post all 1.3 (.2 Hyperpigmented and 1.1 normal) I have from that litter in one photo to better show the difference.

Good question - I bet most people out there were thinking the same thing.

Take care Ash,

Kevin

okeeteekid Dec 02, 2008 01:18 PM

wow! that one has some nice cooper color to it and is one pretty boa kevin.

KevMadden Dec 02, 2008 01:25 PM

Thanks Greg. The one that is currently in my snake room can display a rainbow of colors.

I'm hoping Gus post some photos again of the older ones.

Take care,

Kevin

Maybe it is just because I love the Peruvians over the other B.c.c. but it seems to me that they are becoming more popular in the hobby, now that there are people producing them and breeding for specific traits. There is surely something very unique about the ones with the black eyes, I can see where people would see the word "hyper" and assume it to be hypermelanistic.

The phrase "hyper" is way to loose of a name for any variant. It will become very confusing if we don't define exactly what we are desribing in these animals. I have heard and seen the word "hyperpigmented" and feel that is a much better description for the ones with the odd colors and black eyes.

To me the black animals are "melanistic" and could be "hyper-melanistic" depending on the amount of black. This is my opinion, I believe the melanistic animals should prove to be a co-dominant trait and the black eyed animals should prove to be a simple recessive... but I am no mutation guy and this is speculation.

Once we see what happens when they are proven, and the person who proves they are genetic has the honor of coining the name
we will have to deal with the generic "hyper" phrase.

Gus used the term Hyperpigmented and that is what I'm going to stick with.

I do love the fact Peruvians are getting the attention they deserve. Nothing looks better than a 10 foot Peruvian. If anyone doesn't believe me go look through Gus's post and find the mom that produced these babies. She is 10' 1" and looks incredible!

Take care,

Kevin

KevMadden Dec 02, 2008 02:13 PM

Gus - let me know if you mind me using your photos.

She is the best looking BCC out there as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion. I don't think anyone would disagree that she is smoking hot.

Take care,

Kevin

We better stop making such a public fuss over those from animals or Gus is not going any of them leave Texas LOL..

Thanks Kev !!!!!

I was on the Right track !!!!!

Hyper what? Melanistic, Erythristic, I'm confused? Thats about as vague as you can get. Call them what they are, if their is no definition or defining word, make one up. But Hyper? Hyper what?

I got directly from Gus in Daytona. Tonight I'll try to get the trio in one photo together. The flash took out all the color, but you get an idea.

Take care,

Kevin

KevMadden Dec 02, 2008 02:15 PM

lol....like I said - I'm sure the two of us will do many deals in the future...now send me that male!!!!

madisonrecords Dec 02, 2008 01:36 PM

Well, I guess Standard Black Peruvians have indeed been around since before the first man ever thought about keeping anything as a pet.

However, I sure wish they were a " Dime a Dozen " as it seems has been implied.

I have probably had more " Real Black Ones " than most and they were all pretty darn hard to find and I have been known to be a pretty resourceful person and still can only luck up on one, on a rare occasion.

Tell me were I can find this surplus of " Black Peruvians " and I will find a way to buy them all.

Promise, John J

Photos are of a Full Hyper Peruvian and a Het or Normal looking one and of a Standard Black Peruvian adult.

madisonrecords Dec 02, 2008 01:41 PM

Another picture of a young Hyper Peruvian and a Standard Black Adult.

It's hard tell if yours are Hyper pigmented or not.

You can plainly see that Gus's bloodline are.

Do you have pics to show the difference between siblings, side by side?

Thanks for posting.

Just trying to be up to par with the project.

I just photographed this one today and this one would be the less extreme of the other Full Hypers.

They are different.

John J

madisonrecords Dec 02, 2008 02:17 PM

This is the most extreme of the Hypers I have.

This guy has so many weird things going on with him, that it is not even funny.

Gets crazier every shed and who knows how extreme he will get in the next few years, but I KNOW he will be one of the best.

Be Blessed, John J

ceniceros Dec 02, 2008 02:01 PM

I feel the same way... Black ones dont interest me at all, i actually would pay less for something that was going to turn out black.

I like the ones Gus had with those crazy purples and pinks, but curious to see how they will turn out as adults.

That is the beauty of it all; " Nobody likes the same thing and I guess, nobody has too. "

I love them all " Regardless how I have to Market sometimes. "

My tastes have always been for the classics as " peeks on Surinames are second rate to good color and tail. "

For others, it is all about the peeks.

With Peruvians " NEVER seen a Peruvian that I did not think was beautiful, but Black Ones are my thing for sure. "

Glad I only keep what I like, just because I like it.

The Hyper peruvians I've seen that Gus produced are colorful.
Meaning they have reds, pinks, orange, blue and purple colors.
That's why he coined them "Hyper Pigmented Peruvians".
Because there is an abundance of color in their pigment.
This is how I understand the situation.
I guess this Boa now belongs to Kev
Here is a pic of Chris Gilberts Hyper pigmented Pucallpa Peruvian
