I'm new to the computer and message boards, but definitely not new to keeping snakes. I don't breed these days, but have in the past. But, I have to ask, what is it with all these hybrids? It looks to be more for the almighty dollar than it does for the love of the Boa itself. I do see the beauty in some of these hybrids, but their reality is false to nature. Sure, albinos happen in nature, but they sure have a short life expectancy in the wild. Rebreeding generation after generation of selective captives has shown to result in genetic health problems, malformations, and shorter life expentancies. In nature selective breeding just doesn't happen. And what's with the BCI and BCC and cross breeds? PLEASE, guys! You're fooling yourselves into thinking there's a pedigree. The ten top herpatologists have recognized more than thirty subspecies. Even a blood DNA test could not differentiate the country of origin.

I guess everybody should put their mutt dogs down then??? This is a hobby and people keep snakes for many different reasons. These boards are not meant for bashing but sharing information about keeping and breeding boas. There are some people here that do not believe in crossing ssp or morphs and that is OK. There are also a few dedicated folks trying to keep lines true to nature's findings. There are folks that also make their lines stronger by outcrossing for improved genetics..... But to each their own. None of these animals will ever be released in the wild just like my dog wont. They are simply pets....

Everyone breeds for what they like. The almighty dollar has very little to do with it in my opinion. The difference in price is so little that no one is going to get rich because they choose to cross breed.
