looking for a male

jameswood15 Sep 08, 2003 04:45 PM

I have my female (july 2002) jcp in an 80 gallon aquarium set up and want to get a male.I know this is over kill for her size but I got a good deal on the tank.If I was to put a plexi glass separater in the middle of the tank to split the male and female up,would I be able to leave it clear or should it be blacked out,so they can't see each other. I do plan to breed her sometime.I am short on space so this is another reason I want to go this route.Any suggestions will be appreciated.....Jim

definitely put in a divider, just becuase then you can feed them without taking one out. As far as the seeing thing, I think they will smell each other anyway. I however did block the view in my rack system from tub to tub by putting black duct tape on the outside side. I did this because I have boas and other snakes in there. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to block the view. Would love to see some pics of your setup and snakes to offer some more advice, but it sounds like your on the right track.
