Rofl, hey Eve, well it's abit of both for me, just ton's of stuff to deal with. Plus, the lizards, except for Clyde, are all fast asleep dreaming of crickets and the like.

So what's new on my end of things, let me think, thinking, thinking, oh yeah. Need to repair my custom cage as while my wife and I were in Vegas my stepdaughter moved the lizard light from the screen to the glass part of the top of the cage and cracked the glass. I also got a great deal on a ZooMed retail tank setup from the pet store we deal with, 4 out 5 cages with all the goodies for $25.00 a great deal for baby cages, sick cages, go to sleep cages, whatever I may need, or to my wife's horror a new lizard perhaps. Muahaha.

So Happy Holidays, still having issue's posting pics here I'll get it figured out one of these days.

That Clyde is sure something leaves his ladies in the COLD, all the time, hahahhahaa ! Glad things are good for you and family, I too have to start my transformation Christmas House, takes awhile to convert over.

The deal you got sounds awesome, you never have enough sick , or baby, or just need a place to put someone cages, lol.
I have a stack, a BIG stack of rubbermaids with screened or holes in lids for emergency housing, always a great idea to have spares, even if you want and get that NEW LIZARD you mentioned with a question mark in your thoughts, hehehhehee as far as your wife.

Rofl, well yeah, my wife has stated several times that there will be no more additions that eat and poop. Hehe then I point out that she doesn't do the clean up after the 5 lizards, 3 cats, 1 koi, and 1 dog. So we'll see if I do decide to add anything to the collection though I can't get anything that requires a wet habitat as my wife has allergies worse than me.

Oh I have to correct myself, it was a T-Rex retail cage setup, the complete setup was 5 stackable cages. The owner kept the top cage to house the snake he has for sale, so I got the 4 other cages plus the storage base. As far as quarantine cages, I have a 20 gallon, 40 gallon, plus the 4 T-Rex's.

I'm getting my breeder critters down for their naps late, and it is wrecking my nerves! I know that it must get easier over time, but man, does putting them in that cold ice chest make me feel like a heel??? LOL!

Other than that, I am forehead deep in student papers and might not finish til Christmas. Then I think I will brumate for a month!

Never gets any easier in my opinion. I even have a yellowhead lady gravid, so there goes her nap ,

This does seem like a busy time of year. I'm also busy grading papers and making exams!

My Christmas transformation is easy...it consists of cleaning my messy house and putting up one little tree!

My Collareds are hiding most of the time these days. Not real brumation, but sleeping and hiding a lot. It's funny, the girls are sleeping all the time and my boy Kermit is hanging out keeping watch while they sleep. He only hides at night. Yesterday I pulled out all the rocks, cleaned their tank, and gave them some bath time. It was the first time I'd even seen the girls in over a week. Was like a lizard bath party! They all seem to be doing well.

My Geckos are more seriously cooled at the other end of the room and it does freak me out this time of year to see them so sleepy and cold. I can't imagine putting any in the fridge! 68-70 degrees is all it takes for geckos. I'm definitely hoping for gecko eggs in the spring. Really looking forward to waking them up in about a month from now!

Not planning on any intentional Collared lizard breeding and I think mine are a little young yet. Maybe next year. Should I be worried about unexpected breeding in the spring without having more severe brumation?

Going to the Southern Ohio Reptile show this saturday! I do have a spare tank....so.....hhhhmmmmmm.

Oh, its horrible! I nearly killed them this morning! It has been so warm here that I have had to put two small cold packs in the chest to keep the temps in the mid 50s, then it would creep up to 60. So I did that this morning and our temps actually dropped after I put the packs in. The cooler temps dropped to freezing! Argh! It was only for a very few minutes while I was scurrying around. Thank goodness that I checked on them before I headed to campus! I pulled out the boxes and everyone looked okay, so I let the temps rise and stay near 60 until lunch. I HATE this! I would almost rather take a chance and get less babies! LOL!I guess its like the hiva bator. I just have to tweak the plan until it levels out, IF I don't die of stress first!

I know I would be a wreck if I were to properly brumate them with a homemade ice-chest. Now what I was thinking of doing is to purchase a beer fridge and set it to the optimal temperatures for brumating. Lol, now to convince the wife.

You know, it might be well worth the money for piece of mind! But would they get enough air in a fridge?

That I don't know of Rose, there's another solution it's abit time consuming to trouble shoot it. I know you can build yourself a cool container out of one of those styrofoam coolers with some additonal parts. Lol, Alton Brown on the Food network made a cold smoker from some basic parts. I just need to find that episode again and do mad scientist.
