Favorite Pics and Snakes!! DUW

aanata1 Dec 04, 2008 03:29 PM

OK.. I had to do it. I'm starting a thread for everyone to post their favorite picture, and their favorite snake! I love looking at everyone's pics, so I want to see everyone's best of the best!!

Here are my favorite pictures (of course I couldn't pick just one and I don't really expect you to do so either)
Fav pics

I'm using this pic to make the X in Aanata's Exotics (what I decided to name my co)

And my first snake ever... Trying to be a cobra... RUN SHE'S GOING TO GET YOU ALL!!!

And my fav snakes.. well, one is the one I just posted (she's my first snake, of course she pulls rank around this house!) And my Jace. He's the friendliest snake you'll ever meet, but he was from a litter of complete jerks

And my Rose, aka Whistles.. This is the one I had a ton of trouble with when she was sent to me sick. She's still doing fine, but still whistling. We think now it's a deformation in her nose. She's a sweetheart no matter what we poke her with or where we take her, and she's heavier than she looks too, which is fun.

Bella's another, she's the hypo in the X above.

And one last one is Pele` my first BRB... and she's getting big!

I'm sure there's more, but I tried to limit myself to the best

This is my favorite snake. She rides the short bus and has never taken a meal on her own. We figure she got stuck in the birth canal and has loss of oxygen issues. She got called Naughty for her refusal to eat. She's not really naught at all, if I could get her to strike, maybe I could get her to eat! The name stuck tho. Naughty d*mn snake! Figures she's one of the very brightest snakes in my house, she's a lot more vibrant than she is in the pic.

This is my current favorite pic.

Bending Unit 22, doing what he does best:

And some other favorite pics/snakes:

My favorite red girl, Candy Apple:

My first chondropython, Mr Burns. He's an angel in snake clothing.

Fanta:

Sedona, my Will Bird critter:

Kali the Demure:

Seven:

Chili the rescue not too long after he came home. He looks worlds better now:

One of my locality GBK:

Cam, 7'+ of opinionated Asian ratsnake. Love him!

Wow! Great snakes and great photography! I might have to pick your brain on the latter. What kind of camera and lens(es) do you use?

Thanks,
Ed

gfx Dec 04, 2008 10:57 PM

Thanks Ed. I'm shooting with a Nikon D70s with the kit 18-70mm lens. I can make some really ugly pix with it if I leave it on automatic and use the flash so I've spent the past few years learning the manual settings and lighting. I cant say its much of a snapshot camera, but I'm pretty pleased when I get the lighting right. I'm out of town this weekend, but you're welcome to pick my brain any time you want. You can catch me via email at julie ah't gfxferret dha't khom.

Thanks Julie. That's one thing I noticed as well, my point-and-shoot camera actually takes better pictures in automatic mode than my new DSLR (old Canon Rebel) in auto mode. I think the lens I have is mediocre as well, so that probably doesn't help. (Not that I'm complaining, I got it all for free.)

Thanks,
Ed

Thanks Jeff. Last night I had to remove an eye cap that remained after Jack shed. Call me crazy, but given how relaxed he was while I was firmly holding his head and grabbing at his eye, I almost think he knew I was helping him. Hell, most adult humans wouldn't sit still for that!

Thanks,
Ed

My pictures aren't nearly as good (I just took them after getting home tonight), and I have fewer snakes than some even posted, haha but here are my 2 BRBs:

Monroe. I got him January of last year at a pet store, perhaps I can find another female with really small crescents and hope for something close to an eclipse? I'll admit he's not a really choice BRB but he's great and I'm so excited to see him growing!

And Ace! I just got him at the show, is most likely het anery and isn't that bad looking IMO. He bit me after taking these pics, I've never had a baby this little so I guess he's still in that nervous stage.

Thanks! He's from Cold Blooded Novelties, I got him at the White Plains show. Even if he turns out to be the other 33% or non compatible with Sharp Anerys he's still better looking than my other male (ha ha sorry Monroe). My original plan was to get a hypo and an anery but there's no way I can get the money together anymore. So I'm just a tad jealous of you and your gorgeous new gal

Haha my GF feels the same way about cats. No joke, when I get home from my brother's place, where there's a cat, I have to strip at the door, putting my clothing into a garbage bag, where it remains until I wash it, and then immediately shower. She is not a cat-compatible person. :P
