SHIPPING

I have 2 leopards that I want to ship from Ohio to Maryland. What would you guys recomend? I don't want to send usps because I've heard that they hold live animals for 2 days before shipping! I was thinking ups, but they say that they don't accept live animals. I've heard about Delta Dash before, does anyone know about this? Their website said that they accept live reptiles. Is this the best way to go? What would that cost? I really need advice badly, this is my first time shipping and I'm a little nervous! Thanks!

USPS won't hold two days. Get the geckos there before the truck goes out and make sure they tell you it WILL arrive tomorrow and they should be fine. Sometimes they take two days to arrive, but their computer should tell them that and you shouldn't ship if that's the case.

UPS will only ship if you have an authorization from them, which isn't difficult to get, but they won't do it for a one time shipment.

Delta dash typically ships for 'known' shippers, people who have accounts set up with them and ship often. They are the most expensive, somewhere around $70 minimum. We were able to ship once with them a few years ago, but haven't tried since.

How are you setting up the box for shipment? Weather has been pretty mild here (Maryland) lately, but don't know what the temps will be the day you're going to ship.

I was going to put them in deli cups, and put them in a foam lined box with paper in it. I haven't checked temps yet, but I haven't recieved the money yet, so I'm not shipping for a few days. What temps should I use hot and cold packs in? Thanks!

You shouldn't need a hot pack this time of year unless things change really quickly. I would use a cool pack if it got 90F on either end. It's easier with UPS, because I can ship out in the evening and have it arrive in the morning, so you avoid the hottest times of the day.
