Breeding Help

indictment Dec 05, 2008 05:28 AM

I've been breeding leopard gecko for awhile now and have had great success, but I've run into a snag.

I recently purchased two female blizzards that are two year old virgins. I've attempted to introduce various males, but each time the male nips her like they usually do, the female will turn around and bite the crap put of the male and cease the episode............everytime!

I don't get it. I've tried cooling, I've tried not cooling. Both females are above 55 grams and have extremely fat tails. I've had refused mating before, but these females refuse it EVERY TIME!

I've had them both a for two years and have only experienced this with these to blizzards (unrelated)...anybody have any suggestions?

You might have what is called hot females the means the they were incubated at 90 degrees or a bit higher. From what I have read these females are agressive and won't breed, I have also read that hot females are sterile. That being said I'm not positive that they are.
Something you can try is putting a female into his enclosure one at a time instead and see if that helps. If she is still aggresive then I wouldn't breed the females.GL

Yeah, I've been debating if they were hot females for awhile now, but I wasn't sure how common of a thing it is..........I also initially rejected that possibility because they both do fine when housed together (the 2 female blizzards together).
