Finally taking pinks

joecop Dec 05, 2008 11:49 AM

Only you guys can understand my excitement. My wife and local buddies could care less. Anyway, I am still a beginner but some who have had problem feeders might want to try what finally worked for me.
I placed my baby eastern milks and non-feeding eastern chain king babies into a cooling room for four weeks. (55%) I removed them three weeks ago and re-housed them in LARGER ( goes against most advise ) sterilite show-off latch lid shoe box containers. Today I washed off f/t tiny pinks and then rubbed the tail of a f/t geko all over them. I then sliced a piece of skin off the tail and placed it on the head of the pink. I placed the pink under a hot light for a minute or so to kind of quick dry the skin so it would stick to the pinks head. Here is where I tried something different. I placed the snake and pink into a small clear container and then placed the container into the new container so the surroundings were familiar. Within one minute they all took the pinks. Worth a try if you are at your wits end as I was.

That's what it's all about, Joe - Getting some pointers and then fine-tuning them to work for YOU. Nice work!

Great news Joe I'll have to try that with those eastern milks you gave me, They are eating mouse tails, skink parts and FT snake parts but not pinks yet.Same with my eastern king babies

Congratulations, and thanks for the info. Now we all have a little more "ammo" to keep in mind for those problem feeders.

I got mine from llreptile.com They were not cheap ($4 each i think ) If you get them though it pays to get twenty or so due to the shipping. Costs the same to send 1 as it does 100. I froze all the big ones and used the parts for feeding and scenting. My eastern milks loved em live!!
