Burns or normal pigment?

modernrelativist Sep 08, 2003 05:54 PM

Hi. Can anyone tell me if these are burns from too much/strong lighting or just normal pigment color for a DHL. The orangish red gets much more visible the longer he spends basking.

This is normal coloration for the Desert Horned Lizard. There is no damage present. There are numerous color variations within species. Coloration is not an identifying marker for horned lizards. Color variation is just that, a variation. Lester G. Milroy III
