First Home Made Rack!!

Bogey22 Dec 05, 2008 05:07 PM

Well here it is, took way longer to build then expected but it came out nice. When we start breeding snakes all the hatchling sized racks will come in handy! And the larger tubs are mainly for stuff we dont plan to breed or dont have any mates for. The rack is located in sons room; there won't be any brumation in this room (obviously), so younger snakes can be housed here year around.

Each tub is or will be marked with an ID specifying the occupant of the tub.

Each tub of size has a 4" female adapter to hold a deli cup in, and a simple cheap hide.

Heat tape runs across the back underneath the tin on every level.

That looks like it was a lot of work, but nice work at that.

What are the pine rails for? The ones best seen in the picture below the title "Heat tape runs across the back underneath the tin on every level"? It looks like they are on both the full box and hatchling box levels.

Was most of the rack built from oak plywood and they solid oak used for the face frame?

And just curious, but how did you cut the zig-zag angles out of the lower face frame? Was it with a jig saw or did you use a router over a template guide?

Very nice.

I like the angled sides on the lower tubs, I have never seen that before.

If that is your first effort I can't wait to see your next one!
