radiant heat panels enough?

jbn9960 Dec 07, 2008 01:42 AM

I've recently heard some conflicting info. whether or not radiant heat panels are enough for a gestating female. Two people I talked to said they use belly heat in addition to the panels becuase they believe some of their poorer clutches resulted from just using the heat panel alone. This concerns me because my females just have heat panels and a sm. fluorescent strip light. My clutch last year was overdue but premature and temp.s were perfect. It was her and his first time breeding though. Thanks for any replies.

Depends on what your ambient temps are. If they are above 68 Degrees, you wouldn't need anything else. Anything below, you'd need something to up the ambient temp, as neither a heat panel or heat tape will do so.

There are far far too many other variables to answer your post with a single follow up post.

You said you had premature babies born last year but the temperatures were perfect. How many days after the POS were the babies born?
