smitx Dec 07, 2008 10:37 AM

I recently read about putting Sphagnum Moss in the hide box to help out with Humidity. Has anyone else tried this and what are any drawbacks? Thanks

Works great - you don't even need the hide box. I just put it in the back corner of tub, usually on the warm side.

Only drawback is that it dries out in a few days and needs to be moistened again.

the box will help hold the moisture and keep it from drying out in a day.......that's why everyone says "use a moist hide"...

....yes ,sphagnum moss has been used like forever....

....and people confuse the sphagnum moss, dried sphagnum moss, and peat moss....

.....moss is alive......dried is actually what you want.....and peat is rotted moss......

....

.........no drawbacks.........

balls will lay anywhere...

I never had one lay in the water dish though......

.....give her some paper to lay under if you want?

......with racks it's hard to use any form of a hide.....so I don't.....
