When planning to breed a male to multiple females, is it better to rotate him between them or leave with a single female for an extended time period? How long do you leave him in with each girl before switching?

I herd its best to give the male a week before trying to breed him to another female
I have bred males to multiple females the last few seasons and what I do is put the male with a female give him 3 days whether I see a lock or not then pull him out. Put him in his own tub for 2-3 days and offer him a smaller than normal meal (same with the female)if they will eat great if not no biggie some people dont even feed their animals during breeding season. Then put him with another female for 3 days and keep on going that way. I had all but 2 of my twenty some females go last season.

I second this approach
but keep an eye out, sometimes some males need a couple more days to get acclimated when they are with a girl. Sometimes leaving them in for 4-5 days instead of 2-3 every once in awhile helps.
Another "must" is to get the male in with the female while she is in shed and I personally leave him in there with her until she sheds out. Then giving him an ample break as well.
Hope that helps!

Is there a reason why it's a must to leave the male in when the female is in shed? In the past, I don't put the males in with females that are in shed but maybe I should?

I agree, I put a female in the males tub for 3 days. After 3 days the male and female get seperated and offered a wean rat. The male then gets 3-4 days rest and digest his meal. Then the male gets the next female that I have planned for him. I have found that a small male can breed multiple females(I personally only use 3-5 females per male due to my male to female ratio) thoughout the season, but also gain 150g-200g in the process. I got clutches from 19 of 23 females. A buddy of mine that uses the same approach got 9 out of 11.
Good luck to everyone with their breeding this season.
