To melle, and anyone else w/ ideas

zokbork3 Sep 08, 2003 07:08 PM

I'm looking for a substrate that the little feeding critters cant hide in. I'd like it to be pretty fine and rather compact, but it doesnt have to be. I noticed the substrate in melle's cage and it looke dlike what I am looking for. What was it? Any suggestions would be graciously appreciated!

Hi,
The substrate in his cage is called "Eco-Earth". its the same stuff as bedabeast only a lot cheaper. It comes in a solid block, and you add water to it and it expands. Its real cool, I use it for my bearded dragon and hog island boa as well. Never had any problems with it =)

You could just leave the cage bottoms bare, very effective when raising hatchlings, or you could just use paper towels. I am not a fan of loose substrates but if you like um I recommend using bowls to place the crix in and prevent any accidental ingestion of the substrate. Best of Luck.
