Some Odd Paradox

morphed Dec 08, 2008 11:28 PM

A few years ago we produced a paradoxed spider which we were later told could be a shatter pattern spider. I do not know what I think it is but the father looked like a normal spider, this is one of his daughters from a year ago. We later found out that one of the normal male spiders we sold also threw paradoxed spiders. Who knows, but they look cool. I also wanted to share an odd paradox that we have, she is actually only a 50% het caramel but if you look closley she actually has a few caramel scales. I dont know what that makes her, a caramel that is so paradoxed she is normal looking or a normal that carries the caramel gene (100% het)
Thanks for looking

Cool the paradox I've seen so far aren't genetic that I know of. So I guess your saying this one is Co-Dom? I assumed it would SR if anything.

Not nessacarily co-dom, it has only happened on 2 occasions. I talked to Michael over at Ball Room South awhile ago. He has shatter patterns which are a co-dom gene and said that the spider gene can mask the shatter pattern gene and make normal looking spiders. My male tech, speacking could carry this gene, if that is the case it is not a paradox just the co-dom shatter pattern. If it is not a shatter pattern I have no Idea. I have the original male spider and I kept back some of his pastel babies that have a few spots of paradox, i think I am going to try those breedings next year, i dont want to breed spider to spider but when she is older I may breed her to a pastel brother. To many desicions..lol

lol I hear you on that one! Congrats! Maybe you'll be ahead of the "big" breeders on this one. I'd love to have had one at the last show I went to in Birmingham but I wasn't sure if it was genetic or not.
