field hook suggestions?

westtexas Dec 09, 2008 04:03 AM

in my attempts to explore an inexpensive alternative to pricey field hooks, ive hit a dead end. my former field hook was a childrens garden hoe with the metal plate removed from walmart for $ 3 that worked out pretty well until the stress of flipping car hoods, etc. finally ended its usage. im actually looking for a hook to flip trash/debris as opposed to "hooking" hot animals so im looking for something strong. thanks for any ideas.

best be safe and have good equipment, but if not, a hay hook or rake to flip, and i the good old fashion stick method to wrangle snakes.

You might try a potato rake. They should be available in the garden department at Home Depot and other such stores.

This one is not cheap but I consider Midwest Tongs hooks to be the best quality there is. This field hook is so strong you might think you can flip the hood with the car still attached just kidding but it is very strong. Here is the link.
