DIY Background

Here's a piece I made for my sons beardie. I just let my imagination run and came up with this structure. It has 2 arches on the left side, ramp, cave, basking platform also the whole top is flat. My first time making one of these. Cheers.

I used a 4" thich 4' x 1' piece, 2 2" thick 3' x 1' of styrofoam.
some 3' BBQ kabob skewers and styro glue. The skewers worked great, I didn't want to use support pieces for the basking shelf.
Tools I used: utility knife, hack-saw blade and my imagination. The structure is 4' long, the width varies from 12"-16" all one piece. I used grout 4-5 layers worth, and acrylic paint. The whole project cost around $25, money well spent. She absolutely loves it, she's never in one spot. The whole top of the structure is flat, tiers down to different levels, a few arches a cave. Cheers.

I love this!
How does this stand up with washing/cleaning etc? Does the grout and paint help with that?
Great job...very impressive

Thank you. As far as cleaning, it's simple. I take it out and clean it with a hose, it air drys quickly. One of the great things about my sons lizard, she defecates on the sand only in the front of the tank. Makes cleaning so much easier. A beardie litter box. I clean the tank once a month. I'm hoping to build more in the future, stay tuned. Cheers.
