Breeding Help

Busweiser212 Dec 09, 2008 05:23 PM

Hello, I am just wondering something that I hear a lot of different answers to. Do you have to condition leopard geckos to breed them? A majority of people say no just let them be. I have one 7 year old male and one 4 year old female in a 25 Gallon Tank with a Basking Lamp and Heat Pad. A reply would be appreciated

Thanks, Andrew

Typically no.......a lot of people have success with breeding without any special efforts. Cooling is generally used as a last resort for geckos that show no motivation or desire to breed.

Its pretty much up to you - its not necessary, sometimes it can help fertility and help both the leos to be "in the mood" at the same time.

However, if these leos have always been housed together with no breeding activity you may find you need to separate them and reintroduce them in order for mating to occur.

Ive had the male for 5 years now and I just got the female not even a week ago, I noticed she was digging and then she just shed which i heard is a potentially sign on a gravid female in some cases
