ball python literally in my face

board917 Dec 09, 2008 11:10 PM

I just got mt first ball python 2 weeks ago. I adopted him for someone who didnt want to care for him anymore... I live in florida and have raised every type of domestic florida snake you can think of minus the venomous. He loves to be held and i usually take him out for atleast 30min. a day minimum. But when hes on my shoulders like he is right now he tends to like to put his face right under my nose. Its as if he is facinated by me exhailing. He is also quited curious about my ears and often flicks his tongue up in there. His breathing is also pretty loud some times, not heavy or fast but loud. I know these are curious snakes but is this normal or am i just not used to snakes with this much personality?

lol how sweet.
i have the 3 and they are all just a bit different.
my little male likes to chill out in my hands and arms. he has been known to rub his nose on my fingers like hes petting me back or something.
the little girl likes to "sniff my breath" and check out my hair.
the bigger guy i just got a few weeks ago is an explorer. hes not used to me and the surroundings yet, so hes a little bit nervous sometimes. but hes calming down and checking things out. the other day i had him here at the desk and he kept wanting to check out some cds we had up here. and the laptop.
with all the other pets in the house i dont dare let them down.
its fun to get to know their personalities and hang out with them...

i had a corn snake several years ago that had just as much personality- even facial expression if i paid attention...fun little kid too...

enjoy the new 'person'

My guy likes to try to launch himself from my shoulders to the floor below... I gotta keep an eye on him because a snake suicide is the least of my interests. Curiosity kills more than just cats.

He also seems to like my girlfriend a lot more than me, whenever he's out and we're sitting around, guess who he moves to? He yawns like crazy too, and always tries to crawl in our pockets.

And sometimes for like... five or ten minutes at a time, he'll just stare at the stapler on the shelf above his cage as though it were some kind of god. I thought it was stargazing at first, but he's totally fine. Evidently he just likes the stapler...

And to think I named him Khan. He's the laziest maniacal tyrant ever.

lol yeah they like to have me hold them more than my bf...but then again i put out alot of heat- i am a human heater...

lmao---have you seen the movie "office space" ? stapler..maybe you should rename him melvin (i think thats the guys name)
what happens if you move the stapler?
