Slight Odor, Cleaning glass tank

viper699 Dec 10, 2008 12:24 AM

I have a spare all glass tank. I notice a slight odor after removing the old aspen bedding that was located above the under the tank heater. It's clearly some dried up poop residue that I hand't noticed before.

I'm sure if I put in fresh aspen I won't smell it. But that's not the point.

My question is, what's the best way to clean out this odor?

One way: Fill the tank with an inch or so of water, add a capful of bleach or two. let sit for an hour or so.

I've heard those small portable steam cleaners are great too for cages as long as the glass isn't too cold when hit with steam.

Thanks Mark..I just used a bit of vinegar and it did the trick. And rinsed it thoroughly.

Probably will use tank for a frog I think.
