Surinam has mucus in mouth

eorlando Dec 11, 2008 10:56 AM

I have a yearling Surinam redtail. Last night when I was cleaning tanks I noticed that she had some mucus coming out of the side of her mouth. Does she have a cold? If so what can I do? The temp in the cage has been warm enough for her.

Somtimes after they drink water, and are handled or disturbed the water can come out, looking like mucus.

You should however keep a very close eye on the animal, if you see it raising its head a lot or you hear any "raspy" breathing get the snake to a qualified vet.

Good luck.
Joel
