Flower question

wesmknight Dec 11, 2008 11:34 AM

Hi everyone. I have been looking for some red flowers to feed my Rhinos, but I live in a climate (near St. Louis) where it is very cold already, (below frezzing at some point nearly everyday now). I suspect that it is probably not safe to feed them just any old rose petals because of the possible presence of pesticides. Would anyone out there have any suggestions where I could acquire some safe, red flowers to feed them given that I would have to buy them from someone during the winter? OR if you think it safe to feed them some roses I by from a typical florist, please let me know.

peace,
wes

Don't use roses from a florist. You'd need to grow the rose bush indoors.

You might try growing nasturtiums indoors. Igs love them.

See if you can track down some hibiscus, they will flower year round inside in a sunny room. Good idea to buy some when they are in stock at HD and keep them on hand in pots.
