I talked to one of the snake guy's at Glades Herp and he said the best selling corn this year was the Lower Keys rosy rat line bred by John Decker. Just wondering everyones thoughts on this. Does anyone think the "rosacea" subspecies is valid? If it is not, then how is it that the "Lower Key's" corns protected and the Upper Key's and mainland FL corns are not?

If Lower Keys corns are protected, how is it that Glades Herp is selling them?

As far as popularity, I'd be interested in knowing the number of animals sold. I would find it hard to believe that those are outselling other types of corns nationwide, as very few people work with them.

Regarding classification, it's likely always going to be a source of controversy; not only with Lower Keys corns, but with other snakes as well - especially rat snakes.

Its funny that this subject came up I was looking at the classafied ads here on kingsnake and saw an ad for Ouachita Mountain Corns "Slowinskii". Here is an excert from the snakes of Arkansas website. "Wildlife pets are restricted to six individuals of a species per household. The sale, purchase, barter, or transporting of such animals from the state or the progeny thereof is prohibited". The Ouachita Mountains are around the Mena Arkansas area. If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.
