Question About Waxy Stool...YUK!

boachris Dec 12, 2008 04:11 PM

So, the boa I posted about a few days ago still has not given birth. Here is the background thread http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=1631900,1631900 However, this morning I woke up to find a nasty stool in the corner of her cage. She hasn't pooed in a couple of months, so this is a development. I was just wondering if those who have seen a "pre-birth waxy stool" could evaluate this one and see if it fits.
Also, we've had a high pressure system here for several weeks and we finally have a storm headed in.....interesting.

Here is the stool. There was a good amount of moisture and it was really smelly. Thanks for looking!

I have not been following your situation, but if she is gravid, then that is probably a "waxy" poo....

Should be some babies in the future for you...

Good Luck.

The pre-birth "waxy stool" IMO is natures way of clearing the pipes of any nastyness right before passing the babies through the same general area.

I believe it's called a "waxy stool" because for obvious reasons it does not look like a normal stool.

With your lower shipping temps, these couple of weeks (ish) of extra time sound totally normal. Get out the slime bucket and prep the baby rack, the litter should be here soon!!!!!

getting excited. Two weeks overdue and no idea of the mating that may have occured, I have been resolving myself to the idea that this may now work out well. This is very encouraging though! Baby rack is ready...check. Goo bucket handy...check.
I'll keep you posted!

I got her from an place called Island Exotic Pets who had an ad here on KS. I know most people don't buy adult normals and have them shipped, but I don't have ANY outlets here in Southern Oregon. I really wanted to breed again this year, so I went ahead and ordered one.
I guess I could contact him to find out what he knows about her, but I just kind of figured her history was likely "unknown".
She seems to have a really great temperment, but she's been struggling with a bit of an RI since I got her as well. The vet didn't want to do anti-biotics, but I may check in again once she gives birth.
Anyway, that's what I know about her in a nutshell. Here's a pic of her a couple of months ago.

couple of puppies that got into a box of doughnuts, maybe french pastries. Let them have their fun because those dogs are going to be siiiiccckkkk in no time. I'm surprised the boa hasn't made a meal of those puppies yet for destroying all her deserts.

Sorry I couldn't resist it's been a silly day but a good one. And there's nothing sillier than a giant turd that looks like a couple of pups ravaging a bunch of deserts.

active imagination you have. I guess when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you crap, make puppies and pasteries!

My imagination likes to run a little wild sometimes. But when I get a response like yours it was worth it. I think my neighbors heard me laughing. That is great.
Thanks for adding some wit and fun.
On a more serious note , Good Luck with your expected litter it sounds like everything is going great.
Take care
