PetSmart supplier in Florida??

llyncilla Sep 08, 2003 09:14 PM

I purchased a newt from PetsMart that is very sick and has not eaten since I purchased him. I want certain information about him to help me care for him, like if he's wild-caught or captive-bred, how old he is, and what he was fed up until this point. I asked the manager of the PetsMart here where he got the newts, and he said from a supplier in Florida called "ceegrum" (sp?) that supplies all the PetsMart stores in the southeast. If anyone has any contact information about this supplier, PLEASE let me know. I love my newt and his life is valuable;he deserves the absolutely best care, and he deserves to live.

Hi,

The company your referring to is seagress farms. They are a fish supplier but sometimes sell Amphibians and a few reptiles. I would say that the animal you purchased is a wild caught animal as I belive that is pretty much all they deal with.

Supposedly all animals at Petsmarts are captive-bred but knowing our supplier (yes I work for Petsmart, I'm sorry) they very well may be wild caught. You can usually return a sick animal to the store, even if its past the 14 day guarantee, most stores will work with you. I know some petsmarts are horrible, the one I work at is really much better and we do our best for the animals. If you see reptiles or any animals not being properly cared for complain to the manager, or call the 1800 number posted by the herps, believe it or not they do listen. Hopefully enough complaints will get seegress the boot, they really are a poor supplier.
