the photos got a little clearer using the A-DEP setting. This guy just shed. Can anyone share what setting they use to take photos of their snakes? Especially if you have a Rebel. I would really appreciate any advice in this area. Thanks alot. Mike Panichi

a couple more. Does anyone use lightboxes to photograph their animals? If so, can you recommend one? Thanks again. Mike Panichi

I make them out a foam board and a few other things at Walmart. Here is a link to an idea of how to do it. I just make the box and then use a Canon speedlight instead of the clamp lights. I also save the cut pieces to attatch back to the front as flaps to keep light in the box.

Here's the link

Gosh those are cool boas....kind of creepy looking in a good sort of way.

Your pic's are looking pretty good (better than mine) you may want to think twice before taking advise from me on photography LOL...

I think probably one of the most important thing is lighting, especially with macro. Natural is hands down the best and cheapest to use.

You also may want to try an image manager such as photobucket, using that will display much larger images when you post, and allow you to see any corrections you would make on the next shot.

All just opinion.

Be well

Man, I really like those. Sure wish I had some money.
Looks like an inhomogeneous amalgam of T-pos. and Kahl strain.
Very interesting future, I'm sure.

I have a Rebel and I like to think my photos are decent. The camera can take great photos and horrible ones. The best thing to do to get true colors is take them outside when there are some clouds in the sky to diffuse the sunlight. You'll know it's good lighting when there's not a ton of cast shadows around, but there weather is good and it's mid day. If there's no clouds out, put the snake in an area of shade. I shoot pretty much in full auto with the flash on if the camera wants to use it, but if taken outside with the lighting as described, you can achieve some nice results.
