Brumation...Age?

jsschrei Dec 14, 2008 11:44 PM

Hello,
I went to pick up our rat order this weekend and came home with a couple of corn snakes. These are my first corns- I have mostly ball pythons, a few jungle carpet pythons, a green tree python and a boa. So I picked up Love's Corn Snake book to learn about my new babies and could not find in the book whether or not the "babies" are supposed to be cooled for the winter time. I think the two I picked up were born late spring or so? Do you only brumate sexually mature indiviuals, or even these babies???

Thanks in advance for any help. I haven't done brumation before given the other species I have, so any suggestions or advice is more than welcome!

if feeding isnt an issue, go ahead and keep them warm... they will grow faster. If you cool babies they are more likely not to make it (like adults). each person is different. i am cooling the babies i didnt sell this year just so i dont have as many hatchlings to feed per feeding. That way when they sell, i warm them up and they will be ready for their meal when they get to their new homes
