escaped corn

Tom_AF_Guy Dec 15, 2008 04:41 AM

so, my wife wanted to hold my corn snake while i was at work, and when she put her back she didnt latch the tank correctly, so when i went to feed her tonight, gone...shes only about a year old, so still kinda small. in all the years of owning reptiles i can honestly say ive never had an escape, (i was also single most of those years..heh.) anyway, i live in a new apartment, so as far as im aware there isnt any way for it to get out of the actual apartment, plus its chilly outside, so i doubt it would want to, im just wondering if theres any tried and true methods on catching them, she had some good heft to her, so she should be healthy a while...i cant really do the flour across the doorway thing cause its all carpet here, thanks for any help. i breed mice too, so ill keep a close watch to see if she sets up shop around the mice cause of the smell.

Great to hear you found your snake so quickly. One of my son's snakes escaped awhile ago and coincidentally we also found it in the laundry basket! Might be the first place to look when you have an escapee?

if there ever is a next time, just in case i would get some paper bags and set them up around the edges of a room that way when /if it slithers past them you can hear it. my neighbors cornsnake got loose and he found it in his blankets. gald you found your snake! might wanna show your wife how to latch the tank properly too. he e.
