i feed mine at least once a day, sometimes more often depending on how much time i have. they get one big meal a day, then sometimes a smaller snack later on. they grow rather fast, and i imagine they appreciate the extra fuel. when they get a bit older, they won't grow as fast and you may want to slow down the feeding schedule a bit.

cool, thanks for the info

a second question though also.. i've only had him since sunday, and he seems to be sleeping a lot, that or he just really likes to be buried under the bedding.. but is a lot of sleep normal?

Yeah it's normal for them to spend most of the day in their burrow. I don't know if they're really sleeping down there though. Sometimes one of mine won't come out that day but then it'll be out the next day on schedule. They usually make it out for a at least a few hours a day. Sometimes my male will be out more for a few months then maybe my female will be the one that's out more. They just kind of got their own little cycles.

I have a now 3 month old tegu, when I first got him, I fed him twice a day, and he would usually eat 20 or so super worms (dusted) in one feeding, and then 20 more in the second. Also with regard to your sleeping question, mine did sleep a lot at first, but now he is up for most of the day (in between basking) and sleeps all night.

Hope this helps....
