Picked up two new corn snakes on Monday from a local Craigslist ad. This is a female sunglow motley, I named her Ruby

Next up.. hmm, do you see him?

There he is!

He’s a butter motley, currently in shed. I named him Citrine.
I put the log in his new enclosure and over 24 hours later he still hasn’t come out!

I’ll have to get some good pics of him when he finally comes out!

Some updated pics of Quartz, my ghost motley baby that I got at the Sacramento Show this year. His eyes seem to have a blue tint but he's still so small, it's hard to tell.

He’s a cobra!

He is very cage defensive but we’re working on it. Same shot, from above with flash.

Thanks for looking!

Congrats, you have some very nice snakes. What vendor did you get the ghost motley from?

Thanks Misty!
I wish I could remember the name, I looked for my receipt last night but no luck. They were by one of the bigger vendors, LLL reptile I think it was. They had 2 or 3 striped snows but by the time I went back those were all gone so I got the ghost motley instead. They had mainly colubrids (corns and kings).

First very nice snakes. And I've been trying to think what I can find to breed to my adult bloodred male. And sunglow motley was at the top. Besides bloods of course. Sunglows have no black ring area which should help with outcrosses??? and I wondered what the motley will do with the diffused? I realize babies would be het motley. But also het diffused. I think? I have no idea if those are related. But the no black ring section was a big reason to select a morph like a sunglow.

I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, is that a baby from a bloodred to a motley? As in 1st generation?

OR. Phenotype motley and diffused? If that makes sense. Besides teh circle back I love the color.

I need to know how to get that. As I now have a new project.

Many thanks for the pictures.

bloodred to motley would get you hets for both, unless there is hidden genes.
you'd have normal het bloodred(diffused), motley

if you bred a motley het bloodred to a bloodred het motley (or any mix there of) then you'd end up with bloodred mots. You have to have both genes in both snakes.

to tell the truth, my friend never asked... he saw it.. asked if there were bloodreds in the box while pointing to that one... the owner said whoops... my friend said too bad i'm getting it. i wont even say the price he paid for it... but it was a steal you just gotta really check out containers with 100s of snakes in them... you never know what you'll find

hehe....that's my little girl! A few people on other sites are skeptical that she is bloodred.....but I think 99% sure she is. The gray head gives it away....and that dark dark red color reminds me of the "wild cherry" bloods.

anyway...thanks for the kind words guys!

Well, they have hit my list now lol. And as soon as I think my funds are improving BAMM. Tranny blew in our old explorer. Good news we found a 2003 windstar and got a very good deal.

So broke again lol. but by summer things should be better.
I have a few other things ahead of it, like returning a few favors, but most of you know I like bloodreds lol, and motleys are a cool addition.

Hey Tom, dont forget that in "high quality" bloodreds, the pattern will be mostly gone as an adult. A bloodred motley should be almost as diffused as a regular bloodred. Again, the higher the quality, the better the diffusion. A lower quality wont diffuse as well, and you will be able to see the pattern more.
