Feeding? Rodent size?

austin189 Dec 17, 2008 04:27 PM

My ball python is now about 2 ft and has been eating mice up until now. My question is when should i switch him to larger prey and what kind of prey should it be.

Thanks!

Pizza, I feed mine all pizza hut meat lovers. Nah, jk I feed most mice until I think they can handle bigger but I never go overboard. You can buy mice and rats in different sizes so just a good rule of thumb is no bigger than the diameter of your animal.

A decent rule of thumb...if you feed your snake and 3-4 hours later you go look at your snake and you can't tell he ate anything then its time to move up. I like to see a lump in my snakes belly for most of that day that I fed him. In other words the mouse/rat should be least the size around as the fat part of the snake.
