swollen jaw in everglades

My male '08 everglades rat's upper jaw is swollen/puffy below each eye. It is just the upper jaw, and it now looks like it flares out a little over the lower jaw. The snake behaves normally and eats fine. Is this a problem? Anyone else seen anything like it and/or have any suggestions?
