I have not post on the forum in years, but recently my 11 year old leopard gecko has gotten an eye infection that has closed his right eye shut. Now the other one is cloudy and leaking fluids. At the petstore i worked at, during the sumer we got a batch of leopard geckos from a breeder, with a few that had shut eyes. We thought it was a bad shed, but the eyes were sealed shut, and the eyes seemed to be disolved and appeared to sink in the head. Well later, other healthy leopard geckos began showing the same symptoms my gecko is showing, and eventually going fully blind. I think my gecko has contacted from my petstore due to contimination of wax worms.
Is there anyway I can stop this infection, I did the humidity warm water to wipe a way the fluid build up, but it then "seals" shut the next day. Is there any antibiotic eye drops or ointments to heal this. A herp vet would be tough and expensive, but may be needed, but I feel they would only prescribe a similar medicine. Has anyone dealt with this before?
