Looks like Santa came a little early....

This was a late clutch for me from a Pastel Het Genetic Stripe bred to my largest Het Genetic Stripe. She laid 9 , one was full sized but not fertile, after a week it went to the corn field gods. The other 8 did fine and the results are hatching out now. There is 1 Pastel Genetic Stripe , 1 regular Genetic Stripe , 3 Pastels 66% Het for Genetic Stripe and 3 regular 66% Hets. I made a pair of Pastel Genetic Stripe this past year so this Pastel Genetic Stripe is a nice little bonus to wrap up my otherwise slow 08 season. Other than the couple Ivories I hatched and the 3 Pastel Mystics I got luck enough to produce this year this last clutch will wrap things up nicely for the year. I'll get a better pic once they are all out. Happy Holidays everyone!

Best of luck to you all in 09, so far things are going pretty well and breeding looks alot better this time around for me, thank God!

Anthony McCain.

Hey thanks man! Was out blowing snow and came back in to check on them. I found this little guy already out, was thinking it would be later today but to my surprise he was ready to emerge already. He's a nice looking little guy I think, perfect in every way. I'll get a pic of the rest of the clutch later, that regular G Stripe is smoking hot too so it's been a good day out here so far! The regular Genetic Stripe regardless of it's sex is spoken for already , a friend of mine has been waiting for me to get him one for some time now, he really likes how my Genetic Stripes turn out.

Hey thanks folks!
Here's an ok pic of them after hatching. The results were:

1 male 66% Het G Stripe (not shown, my friend wanted it since it was a full black back and cool looking)

2 female 66% Het G Stripes

3 female Pastels 66% Het G Stripe

1 male Genetic Stripe

1 male Pastel Genetic Stripe

I was real pleased with this 8 egg clutch with the odds of making a male Pastel Genetic Stripe only being 1 in 16 from breeding a Pastel Het male to a regular Het female Stripe. It was a nice clutch to wind down the 08 season with! The extra females were a nice little bonus as well.

Hope you like those G Stripes!

Congrats Anthony. Nice clutch. You actually got perfect odds it should only be 1 in 8 for the pastel stripe. Your clutch hit exactly what you would get if you made up a punnett square. Are we going to see a super mystic this season?

Yep odds are 1 in 8 getting a Pastel Stripe and if your shooting for it coming out as a male then you have to double those odds since it's 50% likely it would be a female Pastel Stripe.

I sure am trying to get something goin with this 1350 grm female Mystic, the Mystic males are all doing well and breeding as I was counting on. I am about to put that female Mystic into the breeding room and take her out of my walk in room , was trying to keep her feeding a little longer but she is getting picky enough that I think it's time to just take that leap and start running her on a male.. After seeing these Pastel Mystics with a little size on them now and comparing them to some of the other stuff I have or have access to pics of I am even more sure that this project is headed in the right genetic direction . I hope to be able to back that claim up in 09 in one way or another!

Photo compares the Mystic (much darker , richer colored one)to a classic Mojave.

Take care Eric.

ps that Mojave Sulfur I got from you is about 1200 grms now and still taking small rats, got me wondering what to breed to her if she hits the 1500 mark this spring?? Any ideas? You know pretty well what I have, any thoughts? What do you think a Pastel YB Sulfur Mojave would look like, kinda thinking a male of that would be worth shooting for?? Sulfur Crystal Mojave or Mystic Sulfur Mojave may not be bad to have either. Anything you would try Eric, if you had a couple different options to go with?

I'd go with a Pastel Ivory or one of your Super Stripes. Who know what that gene might do. I'm doing a bee to one this year she didn't take last season. Also trying a hypo to one of the original girls since the original mojave male is het hypo.

Here's a male I made from a late clutch in 07 , he was from a Poss Het that proved out. This was one I decided to hang onto and hold back as a future breeder. My problem now is that I have 2 Pastel male Genetic Stripes and can't decide if I should just keep him around or what. Seems like it would be hard to part with him even if he is just a regular Genetic Stripe , he seems to be a really nice one. Wondering what some of you folks would do? Keep this one, Sell the baby Pastel Stripe male and keep this one and the older Pastel Stripe male? Keep only the 2 male Pastel Stripes and sell this one for premium based on how he looks? Can't keep all them all if your realistic and was wondering how some of you would look at that situation. Knowing something has to be sold at some point to make room for other stuff coming up if for no other reason. I think situations like this are going to become real common real soon with all the new stuff people are unfolding each you, the base morphs get kinda left behind at some point I'd think? Ideas???
