Frozen thawed Parasites?

austin189 Dec 20, 2008 11:27 AM

Is there really an issue with parasite contraction from fresh killed mice vs. frozen thawed or is this a very minor difference?
I know freezing food products like pork pork less than 6 inches thick for 20 days at 5 o F will kill any trichinella worms, so I see how this could help but has anyone had an issue where a parasite free snake got parasites from eating rodents? And for anyone who responded to the CO2 post, thanks it helped, think I'll just bag and bash though I think this could get interesting with rats....

I'm not sure about that but when I started I wouldn't buy mice from a store that had a mite problem for the reason that it's better safe than sorry. Whats everyones opinon on this matter?

I've been feeding F/T for over 25 years now, and so far have not had a problem.

best quickest way to dispatch a rodent is get someone to show you how to do cervical dislocation=rod behind head pressing down and a firm yank on tail quick and better than "bashing them"
