partial shed

lordbaal Dec 20, 2008 04:40 PM

I just added a full grown 01 female to my collection.
She came to me with about a 5inch stretch along her mid section that is obviously mis shedded.
I do not have access to a camera at this time.

I am sure this is not a very uncommon problem.

How can I help her get rid of that extra skin?

I have dragons and I know you should never attempt to remove skin off them, does the same go for balls?

Thanks for any help

If it's still on then the snake probably needs help. Fill up the bathtub and give her a good soak. Let her move through your hands and slowly the skin will start to come off. If it stays on it could do some damage, soaking might be a little stressful but it's necessary, make sure the water temperature is about what her body should be at though.

Thanks, so after a good bath, I can rub the skin off? NOT pull it off right?
The previous owner did not have a 'humid' box in her cage, something I will be adding, my apartment humidity is around 40%, with a big water bowl, my other snakes cage gets to about 50% humidity, so I always have the ddamp moss box for it to retreat into.
My other Ball has shed 4 times since I got it, all a clean 1 off.

Thanks
