Why do..........

AshLopez Dec 21, 2008 11:53 AM

People try to sell their animals with NO PICTURES ?????

They say NO PICTURE COLLECTORS !!!!

The whole reason why I'm into boa's is because of their beauty.

I want to see the animal.

I'm always browsing the classifieds for New animals.

The ad always says... AWESOME CORAL SUNGLOW,ONE OF A KIND,UNREAL COLOR !!!!

E_MAIL for pics......You know what I JUST DON"T BOTHER.

THE POINT OF SALE ....IS THE PIC !!!!!

You hear that ....THE POINT OF SALE IS THE PICTURE !!!!!!

There are SO MANY NICE boa's for sale,Why MAKE IT HARDER for people to buy them.

All the Big Breeders have the MOST AWESOME PICTURES !!!!!

You are so right ASH! And also to that, They play with the camera to make the snake's color look like one of a kind. I do have to say something to the people on the forum.. That Ash Lopaz you are the one that educated me on Bcc boas and your also the one that got me into Florida redtails. Just remember ASH, lets go back into time. Do you remember the first Flordia Red tail that was advertised on kingsnake, and you told me DUDE Hurry go on kingsnake there is a Florida redtail for sale, and I am leaving work and going like 80 miles per hour just trying to get home to my computer so I can go on kingsnake to buy that animal.

Yeah..... I think you called me about my Miller male. You wanted to buy him and I said that your first Suri should be a Female. I said don't buy my male but that I knew of a Really nice Florida Redtail Female that was for sale. Since then you haven't looked back. Now you own almost every Florida Redtail produced!!!! LOL!!!

i agree with you ash, i don't bother with those ads anymore, when you email them asking for pics they never get back to you, just makes me mad because they wasted my time.

When I post an ad on the trades page I never put pics in it, & what I think is a big wast of time is when people email me saying nothing more then "can I get some pics" or "please send pics", no hi Dan, hello, my name is..., thanks, or anything. I'm not saying you do that Greg, I have no idea, but those are the ones I never reply to because I have never gotten a reply after sending pics to those who send emails like that. I just wast my time sending them pics & never hear from them again. Happy Holidays!

Then the wonder why they dont sell. Lol..

In our busy schedules we want to see the snake in the ad right away, not hassle to email for pics.

You are right ash.

People who try to sell their animals with pictures of urates and feces all over the place. I figure that's the quality of their husbandry on a GOOD DAY.

I have seen some pretty nasty pic's in the classifieds and often wonder how much worse are the ones with NO pic's.

I also have NEVER inquired to see a pic of a snake being sold by a seller that doesn't bother posting one.

It annoys me too!!!!

IMO, an ad without a pic probably gets very few responses. Also, my guess is it does very little to build a customer base. I wonder how many people email them asking for a pic, ACTUALLY get one, and then it looks nothing like what they had hoped for and built up on their minds. Probably most! My guess is that the prospective customer probably would be more reluctant to email that particular seller (and maybe even others) in the future when no pic is provided in the ad.

In the case of sales, a picture truly is worth 1,000 words. And good quality, accurate pics truly do make sales.

I've also found it interesting that the lower priced animals are usually those without the pics. Those with a higher price are usually accompanied by a picture because the seller wants to illustrate the value of the purchase price they're asking. Or, maybe the sellers who don't provide pics work with low quality animals and low profit margins so they can't afford a camera...?? Who knows?

I also agree with the responder who wrote that dirty cage pictures are TOTALLY disgusting and probably do give a great impression of the overall level of care the animal receives (with the exception of breeding pics).

I do make an exception for those that say something to the effect of: I have pics but couldn't size them down for KS, so email and they'll be right to you. I make an exception for these ads because the sellers software knowledge has nothing to do with the quality of the animals. I've emailed guys before offering to resize their pics for them so they can attach them to the ad. MANY have taken advantage of that offer and then attached the pics in their ad.

Good rant topic Ash!

The days of having to buy a boa with a description given to you over the phone are over. There is only one breeder out there that I would buy an animal from sight unseen - a fellow south Texas guy.

Take care,

Kevin

Photos do tell a lot about the animal in question, and it's owner/seller, as you've all stated. I would imagine some people just don't want all that info out there for everyone, especially people that know better. "Step right up, one at a time, and I'll show you what's behind the curtain".

LOL...Ash I totally agree...

Another type of ad that I find rather amusing...

Boas with four digit price tags, with the boa, dark and out of focus on stained carpet, with empty beer cans and dirty laundry visible in the background...funny that those ads are relisted, month after month, even at great prices...LOL

Now I don't claim to take great pics, and am frequently frustrated by my cheap camera, but I make some attempt to use a nice background...

Even a low-pixel cellphone camera can take decent photos, if you simply use a clean background and strong light...

I agree Ash. I have to say that bad/small cell phone pics drive me crazy. It's a waste of my time to click on the ad.
