Later I'll take pics of the Varanids that live here but the biggest enclosure is 15' x 18' and the smallest 15' x 12'. All are 6' tall.....TC
I'll assume "working with" means a breeding effort. Are you using nest boxes or are the monitors to dig in the rocks? While it's a nice line of enclosures as a start, any attempt at breeding in these cages will be a challenge nesting I believe. Also ground burrowing types won't tolerate being so exposed.
Thanks for the advice but I've been doing this for 40 years and am well aware of their needs. Many years ago I bred V. salvator, V. flavescens, and V. bengalensis for years. I still breed many difficult species of herps now. They will have large nest boxes when the time comes. By the way, large Varanids would have NO trouble digging in the rocks. The rocks cover the wire so it's more pleasing to the eye otherwise even with an oolitic limestone base as I have here they would simply tunnel out.......TC

Hey TOm what species are you going to be working with? V. Salvator, V. Salvadorii, V. Niloticus?????? and many more I hope!!!!!
Right now I have a small colony of V. a. albigularis but I'm working on importing something so unbelievably rare that I can hardly believe it. That will have to suffice for now as I do NOT want to jinx anything.....TC.....Suffice it to say very few people have ever even seen one. I've had maybe 6-7 total in my life and they've never been c.b. not even by FR....
got to post some pics of those white/black throats Tom
give us a hint is it an indo or AU species
Neither
Flavecens ?
Maybe some Yemensis? That would be very cool to see some of those in private collections.
